A Week in Progress Jan 1 - Jan 7

*Tap Tap Tap* Is this thing on?

Oh hi. Let's get this started again shall we? Welcome to my WIP blog. I like to share what I'm working on here, but also tend to go on tangents about life, my pets, and what books I'm reading.

Here's what I was up to this week:

  • Healing from my 4th surgery in a year

  • Making a real content plan

  • Crocheting a sweater

  • Reading…kinda?

  • Playing Luma Island

Surgery: I'll keep this first one short. I don't recommend having 4 surgeries in one year if you're trying to start a business. But insurance be what it is and I hit my out of pocket max so (shrug).

Content Plan: I have been spending quite a bit of time this week making a real content plan. I am giving each month its own theme. January's theme is Reuse. So all of my posts are going to be around that general theme. I am trying to schedule the entire month in advanced, but holy heck it's a lot of work and I'm out of practice. I'd love to know what you think of the posts I've made on my social media platforms so far <3

Crochet: When I was stuck in bed for 3 weeks after my 3rd surgery, I did a lot of crochet projects. So I wanted to try and capture that vibe this time, too. However I am recovering MUCH more quickly this time, so I don't have the focus I had back in May 2024. It's coming along, and I'm still excited to work on it. Here's the pattern I'm using in case anyone else is interested in making the same one! [Link Here] I don't love all the triple crochet stitches, but I do love how these flowers look so textured. So I shall continue to hack away at it!

Reading: I read Spellshop last week and absolutely adored it. It got me out of a long reading slump. It was the most adorable cozy read that managed to not shy away from some heckin' heavy topics. Very LGBTQ+ friendly, criticizes corrupt governments and elitist academic mindsets, with a sprinkle of anti-capitalist vibes. What's not to love?

I started a Tempest of Tea after that, and I think it was a little too intense of a read after Spellshop. I still really like it, but I find myself struggling through it a little. I am going to finish it, but my next book needs to be "hallmark movie" levels of cozy again I think.

Luma Island: Ok. Maybe the reason I’m not as focused on A Tempest of Tea is because my partner and I have been played too many hours of Luma Island. We love it. It's like Stardew Valley crossed with Fae Farm but with Pokemon you can find to help in your explorations. 10/10 recommend!

 See you next week!
