A WIP 2025 #5: Jan 30-Feb 13

If you have followed my posts on Instagram then you'll know that I have been writing about how self-care is an important part of being environmentally friendly. However, I think this could apply to any form of activism. When we take care of ourselves, we can better help others in a lot of different ways. So I hope that you can schedule in some self-care for yourself!

What was I up to in the past 2 weeks:

  • Self-care

  • Preparing my stream set-up

  • Fearne's skirt

  • Fearne's arm bands

  • Finishing up the next subscriber exclusive blog

Tako looks concerned because I’m not resting enough. He’s helping by sitting on me so I can’t move! haha

Self-care: I needed a week off from A WIP last week, partially because I hadn't worked on anything and partially because life was life-ing. The rest was helpful because I did a LOT over the weekend that I can share with you all!

Stream Set-up: I am so close to being ready to stream on Twitch again! Z and I upgraded my PC, and we're working up getting my desk all set up for streaming, too! I'll share some pictures next week when it looks a little more put together.

Fearne's skirt: I started sewing all of the different pieces of this skirt together now that they are dyed. I'm so happy with how the color came out. But oh goodness is a double circle skirt a lot of fabric! I also, unfortunately  learned that the panels needed to be re-attached in a specific order… which I realized AFTER I had already completed the entire skirt. So I had to undo almost every seam. Now, the good thing about this being a double circle skirt is that 4cm of fabric will not be missed, so I was able to cut a few of the seams rather than spend hours unpicking it. I have almost finished re-assembling it, and I'm much happier with how it's looking. Success!

Fearne's arm bands: I finished embroidering little flowers on one of the armbands and it looks so cute! Because the flowers are so tiny I'm using regular thread instead of embroidery floss. And rather than have a bunch of spools of thread around my living room for my dogs to run off with, I brought my box of bobbins up. I have one more to finish up and then I'll bring the arm bands back down to add the frilly sleeves. They will be made of the same fabric as the skirt, I dyed some extra of that fabric to make sure it would match.

Upcoming blog: I completed writing my next subscriber exclusive blog post on Imogen! All I need to do is add the photos to the website and then it will be available for you to read. My goal is to get new subscriber blogs out quarterly, but realistically I need to finish the cosplay before I can post the blog. At the very least it won't be a full year before I get the next one out!
