A WIP 2025 #7: Feb 20 - Feb 27
Today I made my list of things I got done before I wrote this intro. I was feeling bad about how little crafting I had done AGAIN this week but then I realized… it's hard to craft in the middle of a multi-week office re-org project! SO in the spirit of the self-care theme I have going for this month, I am going to congratulate myself for not only doing the re-org but ALSO getting in a little crafting this week <3
This Week's progress:
New computer setup (streaming incoming!)
New chairs for office and crafting areas
Office/craftroom re-org and deep clean
Finished sculpting Fearne's horns
Flower cardigan
Prepping "how to use your scraps" series
Office Re-org: I am combining the first 3 into one. Z and I did a lot of work on my office. Z re-built my gaming computer, transferred all of my files (including fixing two corrupted stream videos!) to the rebuilt computer, got a wall mount for my monitors, moved my PC to the shelf by my desk, did some really lovely cable management, built my new desk chair, AND got me a very cute new crafting chair! Holy cannoli he helped me a bunch!
I worked on getting the rest of my space de-cluttered, organized all of my WIPS (works in progress), and then… had an asthma attack from all the dust we kicked up. So we moved an air purifier in there overnight and deep cleaned the office the next day. All chairs and anything stored on the floor had to go so we could vacuum and dust all the things. We ran the vacuum twice just to be sure. This ended up helping with the re-org because once all the stuff was out of my office I could figure out a new home for it.
All of my wips now have specific homes with all parts kept together, this opened up cubbies and drawers for giving my tools and patterns more permanent homes so they aren't floating around the room. I consider this a big success and will hopefully help me get to crafting more!
Fearne: At some point during this re-org, and before we pulled a bunch of stuff out of the room, I finished sculpting Fearne's horns. I'm very happy with how the ridges look and I can't wait to start adding details and building them into my wig for her. I had also already started on her ears, but I think I'm going to re-do them so they match the fur I'm going to use for her legs and tail. Materials for that should be coming in next week!
Flower cardigan: I finally used up an entire skein for flowers. I ended up making almost 28 full flowers (one flower is missing a petal). I think doubling this will give me just enough squares for the sweater IF I have enough of the contrasting color to finish the outlines. The real test will be how much yarn it takes to outline the rest of the flowers!
How to use your scraps: Since my Vex'ahlia post is now available for everyone to read, I can finally post my first blog in the "How to use you scraps" series I want to write. It's a patchwork purse and I'm really looking forward to sharing it with you all!
I also sorted all of the fabric scraps I have saved up to start another "how to use your scraps" project so that I can keep this series going!
